UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica's new mayor is rounding out his first week in the 'big office,' but it's not too big of an adjustment, as Mayor Robert Palmieri has served on the Utica Common Council and as a City Department Head.A new boss means new rules, including a new tone of professionalism - professional attire only at Utica City Hall - no more jeans. That means suit and tie for male department heads. Palmieri says he's encouraged by his first big staff meeting.
"I'm very much encouraged," Mayor Palmieri said. "Our last staff meeting we had was on Tuesday. It was two hours and I think a lot was accomplished and our next one we'll have this week will come out with some of their mission statements and what they believe in."
Palmieri has some department head positions to fill. He says former city employees Linda Sullivan Fatata, who served as Corporation Counsel, and her brother, Robert Sullivan, who worked in Urban and Economic Development, have applied.
