Twitter users not sweet on Girl Scouts' creation

The Girl Scouts ? trying to change up their cookie game again ? have launched another healthy cookie, but ?Mango Cremes? already are being panned on Twitter.

If the tropical-themed, vitamin-infused treat goes south with buyers, it will be the organization?s second healthy failure in two years.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts kicked off its annual cookie campaign yesterday with the debut of Mango Cremes, a van-- illa sandwich that gets a boost from Nutrifusion, an additive with ?the nutrient benefits of eating cranberries, pomegranates, oranges, grapes and strawberries.?

?The thinking behind it is it?s healthier for you,? said Ruth Bramson, who heads the regional Girl Scouts group.

Bramson said the add-ition of Mango Cremes to the cookie menu is a first step in the 100-year-old organization?s new ?Get Fit, Get Moving? initiative, which kicks off in January.

?It all ties in very nicely,? Bramson said.

However, last year, Girl Scouts were pushing ?Shout Outs!? billed as ?sensibly sweet,? but that cookie has been discontinued.

Early indications were Mango Creme could be a hard sell, too.

Mom of two Vicki Symonds of Newton doubts she will buy any Mango Cremes.

?Don?t mess with what works,? said Symonds, a loyal fan of Thin Mints and Thanks-A-Lots. ?There?s a lot of nostalgia with Girl Scout Cookies.?

Many in the Twitter- sphere also were skeptical: Said a user named @fogliz: ?Does NOT sound tasty ? I?ll stick with Thin Mints!?

Added @CJinCC: ?Girls tasted them at a troop meeting last week. Said they tasted funny, smelled like soap.?

Wrote @LeahBartels: ?My mom hid the Nutella behind the nasty mango Girl Scout cookies in the cabinet. ...? and @RoddaTyler tweeted: ?I hope they sell better than Shout Outs... My two troops still have a case...?

But 10-year-old Girl Scout Megan Canney thinks she can move the Mango Cremes.

?It is the best. It is so creamy and I recommend it,? said the Walpole fifth-grader.

Burt Granofsky of Waltham said the Nutrifusion sounds appealing ? ?If they?re gonna fill it with something, I?d rather it something nutritious,? ? but he isn?t ready to abandon his Thin Mints.
