As some of you amazing blog readers know, Edible Europe has been hosting?monthly Ghetto-gethers in Amsterdam (OK its been a few months since the last one, but hey, I?ve been busy flying back and forth to London and the US for work).? If you?re new to the site and wondering what the hell is a Ghetto-gether, well here it is: (to view previous ones click HERE)

We all need to eat, so why not do it together?? Ghetto-gethers are a little underground potluck supper club where everyone brings a dish and we feast on? homemade food, drink, and meet cool new people.?It?s a Ghetto-gether, because none of us are real chefs, but enjoy good food.? It?s a movement.? It?s about how we eat, what we eat, and who we eat it with. It?s about inspiration, creativity and stepping outside of your culinary comfort zone.?If you?re interested in joining our next Ghetto-gether, it is going to be:

This Ghetto-gether is going to be a little different from previous ones. We want to step it up a notch.? Shed the causal clothing for an evening gown.? Add an air of sophistication to the evening. Everyone makes such amazing dishes that it?s a shame to not have amazing wines with these dishes.? It?s time to drink out of glass rather than plastic.? So for this event Edible Europe is partnering up again with Dita from Salotto Rosso, sommelier extraordinaire pairing both the appetizer and the main course with wines.? You can choose from one white and one red for each course.? Additional wines will be for sale for a nominal fee.

American Thanksgiving is right around the corner and it?s my favorite holiday.? All that juicy turkey and gut filling stuffings. Tart cranberry sauce, buttery mashed potatoes, marshmallow topped sweet potatoes and delicious pumpkin pie.? Do I really need to go on?? My mouth is salivating at the sides just thinking about it all. Dreaming about it.

So what better way to start off the holiday season than with a Ghetto-gether?

But this theme isn?t just about Thanksgiving. Our Ghetto-gethers span multiple countries and different cultures. They?re a unifying event and one that brings people together, over food, stories and wine. Its?is open to all types of interpretation, so get creative. Show Your Thanks can mean a million different things. What are you thankful for this year and what dish best represents that? Or what dish are you most thankful for? It could even be a nod to recipes from the past from you mother or grandmother, giving thanks back to them.? Sure you can tie it to American thanksgiving. If you?re not American and never been to a Thanksgiving what would you make? Or if your country celebrated Thanksgiving what would you make to give thanks to your country? Play on the words, play with the theme but most importantly, bring us a dish that means something to you. Then tell us about your dish, what you made, and why you made it.

Giving thanks also means Giving back.? And the holiday season is nothing if not about giving. So Dita and I wanted to add a charity dimension to the evening. A portion of the profit from the wine sales we will be donated to a Cancer Fund.? It?s a cause that is both close to my heart and to Dita?s.? My aunt just died of cancer, my father beat cancer, Dita has beaten cancer.? So many are not as lucky.? Let us give back to those that can?t afford the fight. For research, for drugs, for the families.

Because the event is being held at a private residence, availability is limited to 30 people. Reservations are based on a first come basis,? so just email me at lauren@edible-europe.com and let me know how many in your party. Once your reservation has been accepted I will email you with the address and further details.
