Tarrant County Sheriff's deputies arrested the parents whose toddler who was mauled by dogs last week.
Chance Walker Sr. 26, and Patricia Walker 23, were charged with injury to a child, a second a degree felony, for which they can face up to 20 years in state prison.
The Walkers were taken into custody shortly before noon on Thursday from their home in White Settlement. They are being held at the Tarrant County jail on bond set at $100,000 each.
The toddler was released last week from Cook Children's Medical Center with injuries to the face and ears. He is now in foster care.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, the 18-month-old child had been in a play pen when the parents were watching a movie. The parents fell asleep and awoke to find no one in the play pen and the family dogs barking. They called 911 when they saw the dogs attacking the boy.
Through a Child Protective Services interview, investigators found out the Walkers knew their son could escape from the play pen and that their dogs were aggressive, according to the document.
A drug test the mother took came back positive for methamphetamine. The father refused to take a drug test, according to the affidavit, the document said.
The document also said this is not the first time the child has been attacked by the dogs. The boy has previously had dog scratches and bruises on his face.
