ok so i want to paint my kitchen cabinets white and add fixtures to the cabinets. is this possible. I know these kitchen cabinets arent real wood. is it even possible? I want to make the kitchen look bigger and i was thinking painting the cabinets white would do the job, and adding fixtures would update them. should i do it? any ideas, suggestions.

I?ve had these exact kitchen cabinets in a rental of mine and they can be painted. The key is doing the job right so they don?t turn out cheezy. Take off all the doors and drawers out. Remove all of the hardware (hinges) and number them so they go back on the same cabinet they came from. I painted my hinges black in one unit and completely replaced them with internal ones and filled the holes on the sides in another. If you can, spray the doors and drawer fronts, they come out with a smoother finish and you are less likely to get brush strokes. Start with Zinsser stain blocking primer, mine took two coats and let it fully cure before painting. I like it better than Kilz because it tends to give a smoother finish without having to sand or steel wool away brush strokes which then tends to leave scratches. Now you are ready to paint. I found the little tiny foam rollers gave the best coverage without leaving marks on the bases. Mine took two more coats of latex. Then I sealed mine with non-yellowing, UVB/UVA protecting polyurethane for ease of cleaning and because they get a lot of abuse in rentals. Afterward, you can add hardware for a really updated look.
